Agnes Fischer

This set of pictures of Agnes Fischer was photographed in Langebaan in the Western Cape on a small beach called “Preek Stoel” which if directly translates means Preachers Chair. It is a really serene piece of beach to photograph a story with the clean white sand , tropical water colors and a fresh West coast breeze to cool the very warm summer days in February.
This series is my favorite picture set of the season with a natural creative flow between me and Agnes.Perfect soft light to photograph beauty images.

Tamara dressed in Maya Prass on The Beach

This is the first blog post in quite a while. It is not because I have been lazy or absent , it has been a roller coaster around South-Africa with a work load the size of Table Mountain to catch up after a workstation crash and deadline after deadline to try and meet.I can’t say that it has been uneventful , rather colorful , bright and intense is my way of describing the last three months. This is a post of a shoot with Tamara photographed on the beach in Cape Town , a happy sunny winters day , uncomplicated and good memories of creating on the move with a passion for photography , styling and the beautiful outdoors of South-Africa.

Art in Jeans

In 1873 on the 20th of May Levis Strauss & Company received the patent for putting rivets in the pants for strength ,The pocket Stitch design which is considered to be the official birth of the “Blue Jeans”.Blue jeans originated from the need for pants to be strong and which would last during the harsh mining and prospecting environment in the U.S.A.Today Levis and a pair of jeans is an absolute household must have.We all wear them , we all love them and we all desire to fit into a new pair.Blue jeans has developed into a must have casual or smart fashion statement for men and women across all cultures and religions. We love our favorite pair and would do anything to hold on to a perfect fit when it comes to wearing a pair of jeans.I have one or two favorite pairs which I seem to repair quite often. The thought of cutting or letting a pair of favorite blue jeans go is unthinkable. One of my pairs have been stitched five times , the more stitches and holes and worn out parts the more a pair of worn Blue jeans becomes a part of us and a piece of clothing which we cannot replace or part with.

Takashi Murakami , Art , fun and Commercialism

Takashi Murakami , one of the most thoughtful and thought-provoking Japanese artists. His work ranges from cartoony paintings to minimalist sculptures to giant inflatable balloons to performance events to factory-produced watches, T-shirts, and other products, many emblazoned with his signature character, Mr. DOB.Takashi Murakami was born in Tokyo in 1963 and received his BFA, MFA and PhD from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He has had recent solo shows at Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York (2003); Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Paris (2002); Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (2001); Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2001); and Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris (2001).

My interest with Takashi Murakami’s work started in 2006 when I lived and worked in Paris.A world famous artist , his work is based on mimicking the commercialism in everyday life. His work in 2003 with Louis Vuitton has set him firmly on the world stage as a successful Artist and brand.

Yellow Lemon , My Art

This post consists of my understanding and intention of using fine art photography to display and express a piece of art.Fine art photography refers to photographs which are created according to the vision and intention of the photographer as an artist in contrast to photojournalism or commercial photography which is to advertise products or services. Is photography Art ? Should we validate a photograph as Art ? What is the importance for us to justify photography as Art , compared to just expressing a passion ?
